Accommodation

Lodging Management for Visitors

The University of Colima, through the International Affairs and Academic Cooperation Office offers to visiting students (Mexican and foreigners) two lodging options:

Host Families

This refers to a family that receives one or more visiting students in their homes, making them participants in the family activities and dynamics. They will provide meals, companionship, emotional support, and help to understand the mexican culture.

The prices of lodging fluctuate between $4,000 and $5,000 Mexican Pesos per month, depending on services that each family may include.

In order to apply for the Host Family Program the student must have previously filled out and application for lodging. Afterwards, the program rulebook will be sent and if he/she agrees to these rules, he/she will be assigned a family in accordance to his/her needs.

The person responsible for the program is Flor Silva (Telephone number: 316-1000, extension: 34212).

Lodgers

This refers to a person who rents a completely furnished house or apartment with water, electricity, gas, and internet services to visiting students.

The monthly cost fluctuates from $2,000 Mexican Pesos to $3,000 Mexican Pesos depending on the type of bedroom (individual or shared) and the additional amenities offered. A few options have an air conditioning unit in the room, but its use has an extra cost per month.

Under this option, the University of Colima acts only as a liaison with enrolled lodgers within the program, that is to say, we become a bridge between the visiting student and the lodging service provider, due to which it is important to clarify that all agreements, contracts, or arrangements upon localization, are entirely the responsibility of the two parties implied. The main characteristic of this option is that the students do not have to cohabitate with members of a Mexican family, but they may have the chance to interact with other foreign students.
