Characteristics

Online teaching and learning with international collaboration:
It is one of the internationalization projects at home that provide the opportunity to benefit all students in a classroom. It also constitutes a high expression of internationalization at home because it allows teachers and students to teach and learn in virtual international and multicultural environments, with the possibility of including at least one language other than the mother tongue in communication and students can interact with members of other local communities when teams are involved not only in learning activities at the theoretical level but also in local development projects. (Amador and Garcia, 2020).

Characteristics of International Collaborative Online Teaching-Learning:
-       Foster students' intercultural competence in a multicultural learning environment.
-       Developed and co-taught jointly by teachers from different cultures and/or countries.
-       Active participation of all students enrolled in class.
-       Integrated into a pre-existing course over a period of 3 to 6 weeks.
-       Can be created in any discipline, works well among interdisciplinary partnerships.
-       Virtual format, asynchronous or synchronous mode.

International collaborative online teaching and learning is also known as: Global Learning Experience, Virtual Collaboration, COIL, Teletandem, Telecollaboration, Global Classroom, Mirror Classes, etc.; as the assignment of the name depends on each IES.
